Online Analysis Tool
The online analysis tool is provided in this section and can be used to interrogate the database and to derive statistics and graphics. Users can use the tool outputs for research and other purposes, providing that they cite this website as the source.
The tool enables users to undertake two types of analysis:
- Assessment of trends in sustainability issues and concepts: These analyses will allow the user to assess how the frequency in the occurrence of key sustainability-related issues and concepts in the print media has changed over time. The outputs of such analyses can therefore answer the following types of questions: How has the frequency with which ‘climate change’ appears in the print media changed over time? Comparison of issue trends is also possible.
- Assessment of the geographical incidence of issues: These analyses will show what sustainability issues are most prevalent in certain geographies. For example, users will be able to assess the most frequently mentioned sustainability issue in South Africa. Inter-country comparisons are also possible.
